The call for nominations for the 2027 ISBM Fellows are now open!
ISBM Fellows are individuals who demonstrate outstanding contribution to ISBM and to the field of behavioral medicine. Named Fellows serve as role models to our members and member societies, and form an enduring cohort of acknowledged leaders dedicated to advancing the field. Our inaugural cohort of ISBM Fellows were annouced at our last congress in Vienna 2025 (see 2027 awardees here)
Our 2027 ISBM Fellows will be presented at our International Congress of Behavioral Medicine (ICBM2027) being held in Singapore July 28-31, 2027.
ISBM Fellow overview
ISBM Fellows are selected on their embodiment of ISBM values and priorities, with a focus on contributions in the areas below, including specific contribution to ISBM. Nominees will demonstrate substantial positive influence on the field of behavioral medicine through some combination of the following:
- Research: Research contributions should represent a transdisciplinary approach — widely disseminated, scientifically rigorous, and having a demonstrable impact on the research of others or on the practice of behavioral medicine.
- Training and/or Practice: Excellence in teaching and training goes beyond coursework requirements — inspiring and equipping students to launch successful careers. Achievement in practice involves applying evidence-based methods to improve health through behavior change at a national or international level.
- Leadership: Leadership achievements support the implementation of behavioral medicine research, training, or clinical programs. Such activities include expanding opportunities for practice, growing teaching programs, or improving the quality and reach of behavioral medicine.

Eligibility
- Current ISBM membership (i.e., membership in a member society) for three consecutive years prior to nomination (or a minimum of 10 years past membership)
- Receipt of highest academic degree at least 10 years prior to nomination
- Nomination by at least one, and up to three, ISBM members (nominations by existing ISBM Fellows preferred)
Nomination Process
Fellow nominations are submitted by an ISBM Member Society and must include:
- A statement of contribution and excellence within the field and to ISBM (2 pages max)*
- Verification of ISBM membership for three consecutive years prior to nomination (or prior ISBM membership of ten years minimum)
- Support letter from at least one, and up to three, ISBM members (current ISBM Fellows preferred)
ISBM Member Societies should submit their ISBM Fellow nominations to the ISBM Awards and Honors Committee Chair, Kerry Sherman (kerry.sherman@mq.edu.au) by November 1, 2026
