The Health and Behavior International Collaborative (HBIC) Award is designed to facilitate mentorship collaborations with international laboratories or research groups under the guidance of an identified international mentor. The HBIC Award in 2026 was sponsored by six behavioral medicine organisations, including the ISBM.

The 2026 ISBM HBIC awardee is Dr Kelly Lloyd of Leeds Institute of Health Sciences, University of Leeds, UK. Read more about Kelly and her award-winning project below.

Dr. Kelly Lloyd (she/her) is a Senior Research Fellow at the Leeds Institute of Health Sciences, University of Leeds, working within the Division of Primary Care, Palliative Care and Preventive Medicine. She is a behavioural scientist specialising in decision making among patients with hereditary cancer syndromes and their primary care clinicians. Through the HBIC Award, she will undertake a new international collaboration with Dr. Marleah Dean Kruzel, Associate Professor at the University of South Florida, to gain training in health communication and uncertainty management research to support patients with hereditary cancer syndromes. Together, they will develop a theoretically informed study protocol describing a series of co design studies, which will support the development of a future behavioural intervention in this area and a competitive grant application.
