Aims and Scope
The International Journal of Behavioral Medicine (IJBM) is the official scientific journal of the International Society for Behavioral Medicine (ISBM). IJBM seeks to present the best theoretically-driven, evidence-based work in the field of behavioral medicine from around the globe. IJBM embraces multiple theoretical perspectives, research methodologies, groups of interest, and levels of analysis. The journal is interested in research across the broad spectrum of behavioral medicine, including health-behavior relationships, the prevention of illness and the promotion of health, the effects of illness on the self and others, the effectiveness of novel interventions, identification of biobehavioral mechanisms, and the influence of social factors on health. We welcome experimental, non-experimental, quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods studies as well as implementation and dissemination research, integrative reviews, and meta-analyses.

Call for Applications
Editor-in-Chief, 2024-2028
The International Journal of Behavioral Medicine (IJBM) is now calling for applications for Editor-in-Chief.
The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for the overall management of the journal and is responsible for all editorial text that appears in the journal. They are responsible for appointing Associate-Editors and members of the Editorial Board and will work closely with the appointed editorial team. The Editor is directly accountable to the ISBM Board, shall report regularly to the ISBM Board at regularly scheduled or special meetings, and Associate-Editors may be subject to approval by the Board.
The Editor and Associate-Editors work towards achieving specific goals, and have established smooth routines for handling incoming manuscripts and decisions on publication. Regarding goals, the Editor-in-Chief and Associate-Editors shall strive to develop sound and favorable public relations between the journal and contributors or potential contributors, and with the members of the ISBM community and other subscribers. Within these activities, the Editor-in-Chief and Associate-Editors shall solicit advice on policy from the Editorial Board and ISBM Board.
Regarding tasks, the Editor-in-Chief shall receive all contributions for the editorial text. IJBM is a peer-reviewed journal; as such, the Editor-in-Chief will oversee a system for ensuring that manuscripts are adequately reviewed by qualified experts from the journal’s Editorial Board or other individuals with relevant expertise. The Editor-in-Chief is empowered to make the final decision regarding the disposition of any materials submitted for publication in the editorial text of the journal.
The editorship is a five-year term and is confirmed by the concurrence of the ISBM Board, current Editor-in-Chief, and with approval of the ISBM Governing Council. The newly selected Editor will spend the initial months shadowing the current Editor to learn the position and facilitating transition. There is a token of appreciation paid to the Editor-in-Chief annually, as well as to Associate-Editors.

Applications are due via email to IJBMed@uci.edu by November 1, 2023, and will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
